Shravasti is where Buddha spent most of his life after his enlightenment. He became enlightened in Bodh Gaya at the age of 35 and died at about 84 in Kushinagar. There are several old memorial sites in Shravasti that are connected to the life of Buddha, but the park that was once his own property is most interesting.
We walked for hours among the wall ruins and in the central place I watched the arriving groups. I sat down with a group that spoke surprisingly clear Chinese and listened to their lama's lecture. It was interesting. Later it turned out that they came from Malaysia. Several groups arrived from Thailand. The fog was thick in the morning so we had a hard time finding the place, but it's not easy to find it without fog... nevertheless, there were already a lot of pilgrims in the park at 7 am...
You get into such an amazing emotional and energetic state in a park like this that you can't stand up and leave... that's why it took us so long to absorb the feeling.
“The story that it depicts is that Buddha was challenged by six teachers of Rajagriha to participate in a contest of miracles before the King Prasenajit in Sravasti. The Buddha walked in air, flames leaping from his shoulders and water running from his feet.”
